HONG KONG -- The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and Shanghai on Thursday agreed to further enhance cooperation to boost the financial strength of both cities.

During a meeting in Hong Kong, representatives of the governments, financial regulators and exchanges of the two cities discussed issues of mutual concern, including the latest developments of financial services in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, cooperation in respect of cross-boundary Renminbi business, securities, futures, insurance, financial technology (fintech) and green finance as well as enhancing talent exchange. NEW DELHI -- At least six people were killed and 14 others injured Thursday in a devastating fire in the eastern Indian state of Bihar, police said.

TOKYO -- The Japanese yen continued to drop against the U.S. dollar to a fresh low in 34 years on Thursday after sinking below the 155 psychological mark, keeping the market on alert for possible interventions.

On Thursday, the yen dipped as low as 155.74 in Tokyo, after the Japanese currency briefly fell below the 155 threshold in London for the first time since June 1990 on Wednesday. (Japan-Forex-Yen Depreciation)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad is among individuals being investigated over the asset declaration issue, said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Thursday.
