ABIDJAN, April 25 (Xinhua) -- The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023) played from January 13 to February 11 in 2024 in Cote d'Ivoire brought in a profit of 80 million dollars to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ivorian sports media reported on Thursday, quoting CAF President Patrice Motsepe who was giving an interview to journalists.

"We won more than 80 million dollars. That's the profit. If we look at the previous editions, we won around four million. So we went to 80 million and a large part of this money goes to the 54 countries to develop football," revealed Motsepe.

According to him, AFCON 2023 in Cote d'Ivoire was the most profitable in history.

"The figures speak for themselves. But it can only be profitable if the quality of African football is exciting," insisted the CAF president, adding that his objective is to give more money in the future to African countries.

The 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations which took place on Ivorian territory was won by Cote d'Ivoire. Enditem
