ISLAMABAD, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that his government is diligently pursuing economic reforms to overcome the ongoing challenges in the financial sector.

Chairing a meeting of the federal cabinet here, Sharif said that with the collective efforts of all government departments, the country's economy is on the path to recovery.

Economic indicators and figures have shown an improvement, which is also being noticed and acknowledged by international financial institutions, Sharif added.

He said record high information technology exports, growth in foreign remittances, and overall exports of the country reveal a positive economic trajectory.

"It does not mean that all is sugar and honey," he said, adding that a lot of hard work is needed for the implementation of reforms and restructuring.

Talking about the surging prices of electricity in the country, Sharif said his government is implementing a comprehensive policy and taking steps to reduce electricity theft and lower its prices. Enditem
