RAMALLAH, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian Minister of Transport and Communications Tareq Zaarab estimated on Sunday that the losses in Gaza's transport and communications sectors have exceeded 3 billion U.S. dollars due to Israeli attacks.

He made the remarks when presenting a report on the losses in Gaza's transport and communications sectors at a session of the Palestinian government held in the city of Ramallah in the West Bank.

Zaarab noted that the Israeli army destroyed about 945 km of roads in the Gaza Strip or 65 percent of the whole road network.

He added that about 55,000 vehicles were damaged in Israeli attacks on the strip, accounting for 60 percent of the total licensed vehicles.

Israel has been launching a large-scale offensive against Hamas in Gaza to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed and more than 200 were taken hostage.

The persistent Israeli attacks have so far killed 34,454 Palestinians and wounded 77,575 others in Gaza, as well as inflicted mass destruction to the infrastructure and a grave humanitarian crisis. Enditem
