SANAA -- Yemen's Houthi group said on Monday it had launched attacks on two U.S. warships and two commercial vessels linked to Israel, in what it described as retaliation for U.S. and British involvement in Yemen.
The group, which controls much of northern Yemen, said it targeted the American warships with drones in the Red Sea. "These operations have been successful," said Yahya Sarea, a Houthi military spokesman, in a statement broadcast by the Houthi-run al-Masirah TV. (Yemen-Houthis-Red Sea-Attacks)

ADDIS ABABA -- Flooding in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa has left at least four people dead, local officials disclosed on Monday.

LIMA -- At least 20 people were killed and over 10 others injured after a bus plunged into a ravine in northern Peru, local media reported Monday.
The vehicle belonging to Manantial de Chaquil company was carrying about 50 passengers when it fell into the ravine, which was about 200 meters deep, in the region of Cajamarca on Sunday, Peru21 news outlet said. (Peru-Bus accident)

GAZA -- The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said on Monday that achieving a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is crucial for reaching an agreement with Israel.
