Vietnam's trade surplus reaches 8.4 bln USD in 4 months

HANOI, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam saw a trade surplus of 8.4 billion U.S. dollars in the first four months of this year, according to latest data released by the General Statistics Office.

The office reported that during the cited period, the total import-export turnover of goods hit 238.88 billion dollars, up 15.2 percent year on year, with exports surging by 15 percent and imports increasing by 15.4 percent.

Five items, including electronics, computers and components, telephones, textiles, garments, and footwear, recorded an export turnover of over 5 billion dollars, accounting for 57.8 percent of the total.

China was Vietnam's largest import market for the cited period with a turnover estimated at 41.6 billion dollars, the report said.

The export revenue of Vietnam's industrial processing sector reached 108.27 billion dollars in the four months, accounting for 87.5 percent of the total, according to the report. Enditem
