MADRID, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Former Spain coach Vicente del Bosque was confirmed on Tuesday as the president of the Commission of Supervision, Normalization, and Representation which was set up last week to oversee the working of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

Spain's Minister of Education, Professional Training and Sport, Pilar Alegria, confirmed that the man who led Spain to the triumphs in the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championships, would oversee the organization.

"Vicente del Bosque is going to be the face and the representation of Spanish football," explained Alegria. "The 73-year-old represented the best of football in our country, he is our world and European champion and he is a man loved and respected by the entire field of football, players, coaches and citizens in general."

The Minister noted that the commission has been created to control the transparency and fairness of the forthcoming electoral process in the RFEF, which will be held after the Olympic Games.

The RFEF has been rocked by two recent scandals involving former president Luis Rubiales: the first was his unsolicited kiss of Spain forward Jenni Hermoso which eventually led to his resignation.

The second scandal is a police operation into alleged corruption and money laundering linked to the RFEF's agreement to play the Spanish Supercup in Saudi Arabia, as well as into contracts for the renovation of the Estadio de la Cartuja in Seville.

Pedro Rocha has been named as Rubiales' replacement as RFEF President, but the fact that Rocha is also under investigation is a key factor in the government's decision to create the commission. Enditem
