Chinese brands top Israel's imported car sales in first 4 months

JERUSALEM, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese brands dominated Israel's imported passenger car sales in the first four months of 2024, with a total of 24,442 gasoline and electric vehicles sold, according to the figures issued by the Israel Vehicle Importers Association on Thursday.

In the same period, South Korea and Japan stood as Israel's second and third most significant suppliers of imported cars.

Chinese manufacturer BYD Auto sold the most electric cars, 7,873 units in Israel in the period, mainly the subcompact crossover model Atto 3 and the Dolphin hatchback.

BYD was also ranked third on the list of Israel's total car sales from January to April, including the sales of gasoline-powered vehicles.

The Chinese-owned Britain-based automaker MG Motor climbed for the first time to second place in Israeli electric car sales, with a total of 2,756 units of five models sold in the first four months of 2024.

Geely Auto Group, another Chinese automaker, ranked third by selling 2,182 electric Geometry C compact crossover cars in the period.

Chinese electric cars accounted for 70.9 percent of electric car sales in Israel in the first four months, with 19,119 units sold. Enditem
