BAGHDAD, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Four mountain climbers died in northern Iraq's Sulaimaniyah province after being swept away by flash floods, the local civil defense authority reported on Friday.

The victims were part of a 12-person mountaineering group that encountered sudden floods in the Qaradagh region, within the semi-autonomous Kurdistan area.

The region has experienced severe weather conditions, including substantial rainfall and strong winds over the last three days.

The Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology forecasts that the unsettled weather is likely to persist in various parts of the country. Enditem
