TUNIS -- Tunisian Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani urged Tunisian and foreign economic operators to invest in economic zones to boost the country's economic growth and sustainable development, the Tunis Afrique Presse reported on Friday.

He made the appeal at a small cabinet meeting, during which the issue of royalties for the use of the Zarzis economic zone and the Bizerte economic zone was discussed, said the report. (Tunisia-Economic zones)

NEW YORK -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Friday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 450.02 points, or 1.18 percent, to 38,675.68. The S&P 500 added 63.59 points, or 1.26 percent, to 5,127.79. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 315.37 points, or 1.99 percent, to 16,156.33. (US-Stocks)

ROME -- Global food prices rose for the second consecutive month in April, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported Friday. It was the first time they rose in consecutive months in more than two years, FAO said.

A significant increase in prices for meat, along with modest rises in prices for grains, cereals and vegetable oil offset larger declines in prices for dairy products and sugar. (Italy-FAO-Food prices)

TIRANA -- The euro's value against the lek fell to 100.31 on the local currency exchange market on Thursday, the lowest value ever recorded, according to the Bank of Albania.

The major driving force behind the surge in the lek's value against the euro was foreign exchange inflow, mainly from flourishing tourism. With the upcoming summer season when many tourists will visit, the lek may remain strong. (Albania-Euro) Enditem
