QALAT, Afghanistan, May 4 (Xinhua) -- The counter-narcotics police have demolished 200 acres of poppy cultivation in south Afghanistan's Zabul province over the past month, the provincial police said in a statement on Saturday.
Police have taken into custody several suspects on the charge of involvement in drug business during this period, the statement said.
Poppy cultivation in the war-ravaged country had reduced by 95 percent, according to figures released by the United Nations last year. Enditem
