BUENOS AIRES, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Colombia international midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero could leave Racing Club after less than a year with the Argentine club, according to widespread media reports.

The 31-year-old is currently in Colombia to accompany his wife, Johana Osorio, who was hospitalized in April due to an unspecified medical condition.

Racing officials have told Quintero they will not stand in the way of his departure, should he choose to return to Colombia permanently, local news outlet TNT Sports said on Saturday.

Quintero, whose Racing contract is due to expire in December 2026, has made 16 appearances for the Buenos Aires side since his move from Junior Barranquilla last August.

Capped 33 times for Colombia's national team, Quintero has represented Porto, Pescara, Rennes, River Plate and Shenzhen, among other clubs, over a professional career that began in 2009. Enditem
