DHAKA, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh has honored the country's medal winning players and officials from an International Wushu Invitational Tournament 2024, hosted by China's Jiangsu province recently.

Abdus Sobhan Golap, president of the Bangladesh Wushu Federation, at a felicitation ceremony held here on Saturday, expressed gratitude to China for its long-term help for the development of Bangladesh's wushu sector among other fields.

Li Shaopeng, cultural counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, said that wushu represents an excellent traditional culture of China and is a bridge of China-Bangladesh friendship.

It's hoped that the Bangladeshi wushu sector could develop more vigorously, and the Bangladesh Wushu Federation will play a more important and positive role in the development of China-Bangladesh friendly relations, said the counselor.

At the International Wushu Invitational Tournament 2024, Bangladeshi players won six medals.

The Bangladesh Wushu Federation said there are five official professional wushu teams in the country, with more than 600 active players and more than 500,000 daily practitioners. Enditem
