VIENTIANE, May 7 (Xinhua) -- More than 80 participants take part in a training course which aims to provide qualified tour guides to meet the need of all visitors to Laos.
A tour guide training course is taking place here from May 6 to July 19 both in the classroom and the field, Lao national TV reported on Tuesday.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on Monday, Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Dalany Phommavongsa said properly trained tour guides are important, so training is being provided to ensure that expected high standards are met.
Under the Visit Laos Year 2024 campaign, tourism authorities and operators have improved services at hotels, guesthouses and restaurants, and more facilities have been added at tourist sites, to provide a better and more interesting visitor experience.
Laos' Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism has set an ambitious plan for 2024 to attract over 2.2 million domestic and about 4 million international visitors, with an expected revenue of about 1.3 billion U.S. dollars. Enditem
