JERUSALEM, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Global internet giant Akamai Technologies agreed to acquire the Israeli application programming interface (API) security startup Noname Security for about 450 million U.S. dollars, both companies said in a joint statement on Tuesday.

Founded in 2020, Noname developed a platform enabling enterprises to secure APIs, which ease communication and information retrieval between computer systems.

This platform uses AI, including machine learning, to analyze data, identify potential threats, and respond while preventing database leakage.

The statement said that Noname will enhance Akamai's API security solution and enhance its ability to meet growing customer demand and market requirements as API use expands.

U.S.-based Akamai Technologies, the world's largest CDN (content delivery network) company, operates over 350,000 servers in over 1,600 networks within more than 130 countries.

Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, it hires over 10,200 employees worldwide and is traded at Nasdaq with a market cap of about 15.5 billion U.S. dollars. Enditem
