ISLAMABAD, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces conducted two separate operations in the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Wednesday, resulting in the killing of six terrorists, the military said in a statement.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said that the first operation was carried out in Dera Ismail Khan district of the province based on intelligence reports indicating the presence of terrorists in the area.

During the operation, security forces cordoned off the terrorists' hideout and successfully killed the five terrorists after an exchange of intense firing.

According to the ISPR, in a separate operation conducted in North Waziristan district of the province, security personnel engaged with terrorists, leading to the killing of another terrorist.

Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the slain terrorists in both operations, who were allegedly involved in various terrorist activities targeting both security forces and civilians, said the military.

Operations to eliminate terrorists are underway to ensure the complete elimination of any remaining terrorist threats in the area, said the military, adding that the security forces remain committed to eradicating the menace of terrorism from the country and ensuring the safety and security of the public.
