ANKARA, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Turkish security forces have "neutralized" 108 "terrorists" belonging to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) over the past week, the Turkish Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
At a weekly briefing, the ministry spokesperson Zeki Akturk said the security forces "neutralized" 67 "terrorists" in northern Iraq and 41 others in northern Syria in cross-border operations.
Turkish authorities often use the term "neutralize" in their statements to imply the alleged "terrorists" have either surrendered, been killed, or been captured.
Turkish security forces have recently ramped up operations against the PKK and YPG, accusing the two groups, stationed in northern Iraq and northern Syria, respectively, of planning attacks against Turkish troops and border outposts. Enditem
