RIO DE JANEIRO, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Uruguayan forward Thiago Borbas netted a brace as Brazil's Bragantino edged to a 2-1 home win over Argentine side Racing Club in their Copa Sudamericana Group H match on Thursday.

Borbas struck twice in the first seven minutes before Santiago Solari reduced the deficit just before the half-hour.

Both teams had their chances to score late in the first half and throughout the second but couldn't find a way past their respective goalkeepers.

Racing's Gabriel Arias made four saves while his Bragantino counterpart, Cleiton Schwengber, kept out three attempts on target.

Despite the result, Racing remain top of the group with nine points, ahead of Bragantino on goal difference.

Both teams will secure a place in the tournament's knockout stage if they win one of their remaining two group matches.

In other Copa Sudamericana games on Thursday, Delfin drew 1-1 at Belgrano, Universidad Catolica cruised to a 4-0 home win at Union Calera and Lanus secured a 2-0 victory at Deportivo Garcilaso. Enditem
