Pakistan's anti-narcotics force seizes over 280 kg of drugs, 16 arrested

ISLAMABAD, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted multiple operations in different areas of the country, recovering over 280 kg of drugs and arresting 16 drug traffickers, the ANF said on Monday.

The ANF said in a statement that the force conducted 10 separate operations and seized 287 kg of drugs, including hashish, opium, heroin, methamphetamine, and intoxicated tablets.

In various operations in the country's federal capital Islamabad, over 160 kg of hashish, 3.6 kg of opium and 2 kg of methamphetamine were recovered, said the statement, adding that the ANF also apprehended eight accused during the operations.

In another operation, 8,400 intoxicated tablets were recovered from a parcel confiscated from a courier office in eastern Rawalpindi city, according to the ANF statement.

Separately, 72 kg of hashish was recovered from the possession of an accused arrested near the Ring Road area of the country's northwest Peshawar city.

The ANF also conducted operations in the eastern Sheikhupura and Attock districts of Punjab, seizing over 26 kg of narcotics, including opium.

Separate cases have been registered against the arrested accused while further investigations are under process, said the ANF officials. Enditem
