SINGAPORE -- Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Monday submitted his resignation to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, saying he and his government will resign on Wednesday.

JAKARTA -- At least 44 people were killed and 15 others went missing after cold lava floods struck Indonesia's West Sumatra province on Saturday night, a senior official of local disaster agency said on Monday.

Although many big stones and waste materials from the flooding hampered the searching for the victims, rescuers discovered another seven bodies in the affected areas, said Fajar Sukma, head of the emergency unit of disaster management and mitigation agency of West Sumatra province. SEOUL -- The central banks of South Korea and Malaysia agreed to renew their bilateral currency swap deal for three more years, the Bank of Korea (BOK) said Monday.

The BOK and Bank Negara Malaysia announced the renewal of the bilateral swap arrangement which allows for the exchange of local currencies between the central banks of up to 5 trillion won (3.7 billion U.S. dollars) or 15 billion ringgit (3.2 billion U.S. dollars). BANGKOK -- Chinese technology giant Huawei hosted the Cloud Database Summit Thailand 2024 here on Monday, aiming to enable the public and private sectors to access next-generation database technologies and accelerate digitalization in the Southeast Asian country.
