ISLAMABAD, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Four people got injured when militants attacked a camp of coal mine laborers in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province on Tuesday, police said.
The incident happened in Dukki district of the province, in which the armed militants opened fire at the camp, triggering an exchange of fire with civil security staff deployed to protect the camp, the police sources told Xinhua.
"The attackers fled the scene due to prompt action taken by the staff, and a search operation by police is underway in the area to apprehend them," the sources added.
The injured people had been shifted to a nearby hospital.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
The sources blamed the attack on the banned outfit Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), saying that it was the continuation of their insurgency against the laborers.
"The organization recently carried out two improvised explosive device blasts in the area and also abducted miners, showing their presence in the area," the sources added. Enditem
