HONG KONG -- Hong Kong saw 3.4 million visitor arrivals in April, up around 20 percent year on year, the Hong Kong Tourism Board said Tuesday.

In the first four months of this year, Hong Kong registered about 14.62 million tourist arrivals, doubling the number of the same period last year, the tourism board said in a press release. (Hong Kong-Tourism-Visits)

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia exported 85,428 tons of dry rubber in the first four months of 2024, an increase of 3.7 percent from 82,359 tons in the same period last year, said a General Directorate of Rubber report on Tuesday.

The country made 125 million U.S. dollars in revenue from exports of the commodity during the January-April period this year, up 7.4 percent from 116.4 million dollars in the same period last year, the report said. (Cambodia-Rubber Export)

JAKARTA -- The death toll from the cold lava floods in West Sumatra province of Indonesia has risen to 57, with 22 people still missing, a senior official of a local disaster agency said on Tuesday evening.

"The rescuers found several bodies today, bringing the total fatalities to 57. So far, the 22 people reported missing would be the target of the search and rescue operation," head of the rehabilitation and reconstruction unit of disaster management and mitigation agency of West Sumatra Province Ilham Wahab told Xinhua. HANOI -- Many Vietnamese banks have adjusted up savings interest rates by 0.2-0.3 percentage point per year since early this month to lure depositors, Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday.

The deposit interest rate hike is not beyond the forecast of experts, especially in the context that the savings amount at the banking system have declined for the first time after 25 consecutive month increase, said the report. (Vietnam-Banks-Rates)

YANGON -- Myanmar welcomed over 430,000 foreign tourists in the first four months of this year, with the majority coming from China, followed by Thailand, through visa arrangements, Tin Zaw Myint, director of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism told Xinhua on Tuesday.

This marks an increase of over 70 percent in tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year, when over 250,000 foreign tourists visited, he said. (Myanmar-Foreign Tourists) Enditem
