MANILA, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Two girls aged five were killed after a fire gutted their house in Tondo district in Manila, Philippine capital, on Wednesday afternoon, the local bureau of fire protection said.
The bureau said the twin sisters were trapped inside the bedroom on the second floor of a two-story concrete house when the fire broke out before 2:30 p.m. local time and spread fast inside the home.
It took firefighters less than an hour to extinguish the fire.
A local radio reported that the children were under the care of a nanny when the accident happened. Their parents were reportedly at work.
An investigation is underway to look into the cause of the fire. Enditem
