DHAKA, May 15 (Xinhua) -- The two-day event of ICPD30 Global Dialogue on Demographic Diversity and Sustainable Development kicked off in the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka on Wednesday to discuss challenges and opportunities from the world's shifting demographics.
Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the event attended by some 200 representatives from around the world to share practical insights into the investment in health, education, housing or infrastructure, which are needed to adapt to the changing demographic trends.
The event jointly hosted by Bangladesh, Bulgaria and Japan along with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) marks the 30th anniversary of the landmark International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).
According to UNFPA, the dialogue will help unpack global and regional population dynamics and diversity, covering topics such as intergenerational well-being and healthy ageing, the future of population data, and the changing demography of rural communities. Enditem
