ANKARA -- Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Wednesday told U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken over the phone that Israel's attacks on the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip are unacceptable, reported the local media.

JERUSALEM -- Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Wednesday that he would oppose the establishment of Israel's rule in the post-war Gaza Strip.

Speaking in a televised press briefing, Gallant urged Netanyahu to make a decision and declare that Israel will not establish civilian or military control over the Gaza Strip, adding that a governing alternative to Hamas, the Islamist Palestinian resistance movement that runs the enclave, must be named by Netanyahu "immediately." TEHRAN -- Iran summoned Australia's charge d'affaires in Tehran on Wednesday to protest Canberra's decision to impose new sanctions on Iranian officials and entities.

SANAA -- Yemen's Houthi group claimed on Wednesday that they had attacked a U.S. warship and another cargo vessel in the Red Sea, said a statement by Houthi military spokesman.
