WELLINGTON, May 16 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand and Tuvalu reaffirmed their close relationship on Thursday, stressing cooperation in strengthening climate change resilience, improving water security, digital connectivity, and maritime safety.

New Zealand's Foreign Minister Winston Peters is in Funafuti, Tuvalu's capital, leading a delegation on a visit to the Pacific island country, highlighting New Zealand's commitment to supporting Tuvalu's development goals and priorities, said a New Zealand government statement.

Peters, also New Zealand's deputy prime minister, and the delegation have met with Tuvalu's senior leaders and government ministers for discussions.

"There's no denying the scale of the challenges Tuvalu faces, particularly those caused by the impacts of climate change," Peters said.

Tuvalu is the final stop in this week's Pacific tour of the New Zealand delegation before it returns home on Friday, following the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu. Enditem
