NEW DELHI -- At least nine people, including six women, were killed and 15 others suffered burns Saturday after a bus carrying them caught fire in the northern Indian state of Haryana, police said.

The bus carrying Hindu devotees, including women and children, from neighbouring Punjab state caught fire on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway near Tauru in Nuh district. (India-Bus-Fire)

SINGAPORE -- The pitch rate gyroscopes gave erroneous inputs to the flight control computer, leading to the crash of an F-16 fighter jet of Singapore Air Force on May 8, the Ministry of Defense said Saturday.

The malfunction of pitch rate gyroscopes made the pilot fail to control the plane at take-off. All F-16 jets have four such gyroscopes and simultaneous failure of the gyroscopes is very rare, the ministry noted. (Singapore-Jet-Crash)

HANOI -- The Communist Party of Vietnam nominated Minister of Public Security To Lam to be Vietnam's president, according to the Vietnam News Agency on Saturday.

BAMYAN, Afghanistan -- The death toll from a shooting attack in central Afghanistan's Bamyan province on Friday has risen to six, including three Spanish nationals and three Afghans, a local police official said Saturday.

Two Afghans succumbed to their injuries after being treated in hospital, provincial police spokesperson Muhammad Khawani Rasa said. (Afghanistan-Shooting) Enditem
