HONG KONG -- The Hong Kong Police Force said Sunday that they have seized about 225 kg of suspected cocaine, marking the biggest cocaine seizure of this year, and arrested two men.

JAKARTA -- A small plane carrying three people went down in Tanggerang city bordering Indonesia's capital Jakarta on Sunday, killing all on board, a rescuer said.

ULAN BATOR -- Two Mongolian climbers have tragically died following their successful ascent of the world's tallest peak, Mount Qomolangma, from the Nepali side, without supplementary oxygen and assistance of Sherpa guides, as confirmed by the Mongolian National Climbing Federation on Sunday.

Tsedendamba Usukhjargal, aged 53, and Lkhagvajav Purevsuren, aged 31, were last in contact on Sunday evening from Camp 4, also known as the South Col, after embarking on a summit push. (Mongolia-Climbers-Death)

KABUL -- At least 120 were killed due to heavy rains and flash floods in Afghanistan's northern Faryab province and western Ghor province on Friday and Saturday, local officials said.

At least 47 people were killed by flash floods on Saturday night in Faryab province, said Shamsuddin Mohammadi, provincial director of culture and information. Another official in the province reported 18 deaths in the province during the daytime on the same day. (Afghanistan-Floods)

TOKYO -- A recent survey by Japan's National Police Agency showed that 17,034 elderly people living alone died at home across the country from January to March.

The survey covered 60,466 dead bodies handled by Japanese police during the first three months of 2024. Of them, 21,716 were of people who lived by themselves, including cases of suicide. (Japan-Elderly-Death) Enditem
