PHNOM PENH, May 20 (Xinhua) -- The 83rd taskforce attached to the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy arrived in southwest Cambodia's Sihanoukville on Sunday, starting a four-day goodwill visit to the country.

The taskforce, composed by training ship Qi Jiguang and amphibious dock landing ship Jinggangshan, approached the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port at around 10 a.m. local time.

More than 300 people, including Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian, representatives of the Chinese military, Chinese-funded institutions and overseas Chinese, as well as representatives of the Royal Cambodian Navy and Cambodian cadets welcomed the taskforce at the port.

During a welcoming ceremony, the Cambodian side presented flowers to the mission commander and exchanged greetings.

Then, Wang boarded the ship Qi Jiguang and inspected the guard of honor.

During the visit to Cambodia, the taskforce mission commander will call on the commander of the Royal Cambodian Navy and leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, and attend a welcoming luncheon organized by the Royal Cambodian Navy.

The visiting Chinese officers and cadets will visit Cambodian military facilities and conduct discussions, exchanges, friendly ball games and other activities with representatives of the Cambodian Naval Academy officers and cadets.

During the berthing period, open day activities and on-deck receptions will be held aboard the ship Qi Jiguang. Enditem
