MANILA, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Two people aboard a Cessna 172 plane were injured after their aircraft crashed into the waters of La Union province, north of Manila, on Tuesday morning, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said.
The training aircraft reportedly went down a few minutes after it took off from the San Fernando Airport while conducting touch-and-go flights.
The flight instructor and the student pilot sustained minor injuries and were rescued from the crash site just within the vicinity of the airport.
The CAAP said the four-seater plane radioed the San Fernando Tower to declare an emergency at 8:23 in the morning, adding that it was found turned upside down on the shoreline of the coastal village of Canaoay.
Investigation is underway to confirm the cause of the accident. Enditem
