BANGKOK -- Severe turbulence on the Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 from London to Singapore has left one passenger dead and 30 others injured, forcing an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand's capital Bangkok on Tuesday, Thai authorities said.

The Boeing 777-300ER jet experienced severe turbulence en route and was forced to divert to Bangkok, where it landed at 3:45 p.m. local time, Singapore Airlines said in a statement. (Thailand-Singapore-Flight)

MANILA -- The damage caused by the El Nino dry spell and drought to Philippine agriculture has reached 9.5 billion pesos (roughly 163 million U.S. dollars), the Department of Agriculture said Tuesday.

YANGON -- A total of 45 people, including 11 children, have been hospitalized for food poisoning in southern Myanmar's Ayeyarwady region, a local rescue organization official told Xinhua on Tuesday.

SEOUL -- A grenade explosion during the army training in South Korea left one person in cardiac arrest and another hospitalized, Yonhap news agency said Tuesday.

The grenade exploded for an unidentified reason during the training at the army's 32nd infantry division in Sejong, about 110 km south of the capital Seoul, at about 10:00 a.m. local time (0100 GMT). (South Korea-Grenade Explosion) Enditem
