1st LD: Car bomb explosion kills 1 in Syrian capital

DAMASCUS, May 25 (Xinhua) -- An explosive device affixed under a car went off in the Syrian capital Damascus on Saturday morning, killing one person, state news agency SANA said.

The victim was the owner of the car that exploded in the Mazzeh neighborhood of western Damascus.

The blast site is near the Iranian embassy, whose consulate building was demolished in an Israeli missile strike in April.
