ISLAMABAD, May 26 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 people were killed and 15 others injured on Saturday in a collision between a trailer and a van in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, the rescue service reported.

The rescue service said that the accident took place in the evening in Chowk Sarwar Shaheed area when a passenger van hit the truck, resulting in casualties.

Following the accident, the victims were shifted to a local hospital, the rescue service said, adding that some of the injured were in critical condition. The deceased included four children and three women.

The rescue service, quoting the van's passengers, said that the accident occurred due to overspeeding and careless driving by the van driver. Enditem
