BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 26 (Xinhua) -- The Narcotics Control Bureau of Brunei Darussalam dismantled a drug syndicate and arrested 16 individuals in a recent operation, the local daily Borneo Bulletin reported on Sunday.

The syndicate was led by a 60-year-old local resident who had been arrested and imprisoned for drug trafficking several times before. In the operation, Brunei authorities seized methylamphetamine, cannabis and tools such as digital scales, scissors and transparent packets.

The 59.13-gram methylamphetamine was estimated to be worth more than 10,000 Brunei dollars (7,400 U.S. dollars) in the local market. This amount could sustain at least 590 drug addicts, the Borneo Bulletin reported. Enditem
