KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Two more deaths have been recorded due to dengue fever in Malaysia, bringing this year's total to 42 compared to 28 logged in the same period last year, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

The cumulative number of dengue fever cases reported this year is 59,681 cases, compared with 43,619 cases for the same period in 2023, the ministry's director-general Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan said in a statement.

Selangor state is the worst hit area, as the ministry has ordered preventative measures to be taken especially in schools to identify and destroy breeding spots of mosquitoes, he added. Enditem
