MAIMANA, Afghanistan, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Police in Afghanistan rescued four children in the northern Faryab province and the national capital of Kabul and took into custody the abductors on Saturday, officials said Sunday.
In the latest rescue operations, the security personnel rescued two children, aged 11 and 12 respectively, in Maimana city, the provincial capital of Faryab on Saturday evening and arrested four alleged kidnappers, provincial director for the information and culture department Shamsudin Mohammadi said.
Earlier in similar operations on Saturday morning, police rescued two children of a local businessman in Kabul and arrested a kidnapper, Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran said.
Zadran also noted that efforts are underway to arrest the kidnapper's accomplice who is still at large. Enditem
