KABUL, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have implemented 104 public utility projects in different sectors in east Afghanistan's Laghman province within the past 12 months, the state news agency Bakhtar reported on Saturday.

The projects, with a cost of 1.6 billion afghanis (about 22.6 million U.S. dollars), cover the fields of infrastructure, energy and industries, said the report, adding that Afghan authorities plan to launch 137 development projects in the province in the current Persian calendar year 1403.

The projects have provided job opportunities to 30,000 local residents, the report said.

The Afghan caretaker government has launched numerous infrastructure projects since assuming power in August 2021, including building water canals, highways and solar power systems across the war-ravaged country. Enditem
