KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 (Xinhua) -- The number of the unemployed in Malaysia declined by 0.04 percent month on month to 566,400 persons in April, registering an unemployment rate of 3.3 percent, official data showed Monday.
Malaysia's labor market in April remained steady, reflecting the encouraging growth of Malaysia's economy, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.
According to the DOSM, the number of the labor force in April edged up by 0.1 percent to 17.12 million persons, with the labor force participation rate standing at 70.3 percent as in the prior month.
Meanwhile, the number of employed people in April continued to rise, marking a month-on-month growth of 0.1 percent, to reach 16.56 million compared to the previous month.
"A more optimistic condition of the country's labor force is expected in the coming months, in line with Malaysia's favorable economic performance," the DOSM said. Enditem
