JERUSALEM, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Four Israeli soldiers were killed and six others injured in a blast in a booby-trapped building in Gaza's Rafah city, Israel's military announced on Tuesday.

The troops, including three soldiers and their commanding officer, were "killed in fighting in southern Gaza" on Monday, the military said in a press release, without elaborating further details.

Israel's Army Radio reported that the soldiers were hit by explosive devices that detonated when they entered a building in the Shabura neighborhood.

In a statement, the Islamic Resistance Movement claimed responsibility for the killing, saying the soldiers were killed in an attack by its fighters.

The latest deaths brought the military's overall death toll to 298 since its ground offensive in Gaza began last October, according to military figures. Enditem
