GENEVA, June 11 (Xinhua) -- The International Skating Union (ISU) approved its 2024-26 budget to set off for a game-changing future under the Vision 2030 during its 59th Congress in Las Vegas, United States, on Monday.

Running from June 10 to 14, the Congress witnessed ISU President Kim Jae-youl present the Vision 2030 strategic plan on the opening day, which shared his initiatives to modernize the organization and elevate ice-skating sports, and the Congress overwhelmingly voted in favor of the budget for 2024-26.

"The Vision 2030 builds on these changes and articulates concrete long-term solutions to improve, innovate and engage. Our objective is to increase capabilities to better serve our athletes, Members and fans and make the necessary investments to unlock the full potential of our sport. Together, we are embracing an athlete-first, Member-focused and fan-centric approach to propel our sport to the future," Kim said in his presentation.

President Kim, ISU Director General Colin Smith and other speakers outlined the steps on five priority areas of Vision 2030, namely growth, opportunity, innovation, safeguarding and unity for the sport.

The ISU also proposed a 20% increase in annual member contribution to assist members in developing and implementing athlete safeguarding initiatives in their own countries and regions, the ISU said. Enditem
