PHNOM PENH, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia earned a total of 384.4 million U.S. dollars from the exports of milled rice and dry rubber during the first five months of 2024, according to official reports on Wednesday.
A report from the Cambodia Rice Federation indicated that the kingdom exported 302,592 tons of milled rice to 63 countries and regions during the January-May period this year, making 219.9 million dollars in revenue from the exports of the commodity.
China remained a major buyer of the commodity, the report said, adding that the Southeast Asian country shipped 73,322 tons of milled rice to China during the above-mentioned period, earning a gross revenue of 46.2 million dollars.
Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Rubber reported that Cambodia exported 110,772 tons of dry rubber in the first five months this year, up 2.42 percent from 108,148 tons in the same period last year.
The kingdom made 164.5 million dollars in revenue from exports of dry rubber during the January-May period this year, up 7.4 percent from 153.1 million dollars over the same period last year.
Both rice and rubber are among the country's potential cash crops in addition to cashew nuts, yellow bananas, mangoes, and longans. Enditem
