VILNIUS, June 14 (Xinhua) -- The Council of the European Union approved a revised regulation regarding the development of a new European-gauge railway line to the Lithuanian port city of Klaipeda, the country's Ministry of Transport and Communications said on Thursday.

The revised Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) Regulation, based on Lithuania's proposal, also includes a new transport corridor connecting the Baltic, Black and Aegean Seas, the ministry said in a press release.

"The inclusion of the European-gauge railway line to Klaipeda in the new TEN-T Regulation is a solid achievement of and for our country and the entire Baltic region that will help speed up the development of infrastructure that is important for the whole of Europe," said Loreta Maskalioviene, Lithuania's deputy minister for transport and communications.

The TEN-T also includes Lithuania's other key international roads and railways, according to the ministry. Enditem
