Wholesale inflation in India rises to 2.62 pct

NEW DELHI, June 14 (Xinhua) -- The rate of wholesale inflation in India rose to 2.62 percent in May from 1.26 percent in April, according to data released by the federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Friday.

"Positive rate of inflation in May 2024 is primarily due to increase in prices of food articles, manufacture of food products, crude petroleum and natural gas, mineral oils, other manufacturing etc.," the ministry said.

Food sector inflation rose to 9.82 percent in May, from 7.74 percent in April, it said. Enditem
