JAKARTA, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed in a collision between a minibus and a truck on the toll road in Gresik Regency, East Java, Indonesia, on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. local time.

Imet Chaerudin, head of the highway patrol unit of the East Java Regional Police Traffic Directorate, said that the minibus had switched lanes to the right just as the timber truck was speeding.

"The truck driver applied the brakes and swerved to the right, but the distance was too close to avoid the collision," Chaerudin said.

After the collision, the minibus, which was carrying 17 passengers, including two children, overturned and struck the road median.

The deceased were a passenger and the minibus driver, both of whom were transported to the nearest hospital. Enditem
