WARSAW, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Poland beat Egypt 25-16, 25-21, 25-18 in the opening match of the Hubert Wagner Memorial men's volleyball tournament in Krakow, Poland on Friday.
Egypt once took the lead 8-7 in the second set, but Poland responded quickly to control the game and seal the win.
The tournament is the last test for Poland, Egypt, Germany and Slovenia before the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.
"In the Olympic tournament, we need to perform at a higher level," Poland's Kamil Semeniuk said after the match.
"Our serves weren't good enough. We're in the preparations for the Olympics, so physically we're not in our best shape. The coach is not entirely satisfied with our game despite the victory, but I hope that we will reach our best level soon," he added.
In the other match, Slovenia edged Germany 25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 20-25, 15-13. Slovenia will next play Egypt, while Poland will face Germany. Enditem
