PARIS, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Grace Brown of Australia won the first cycling gold medal of the Paris Olympic Games on Saturday when she won the women's time-trial by an impressive margin of a minute and 31 seconds.
Brown covered the 32.4-kilometer course in 39 minutes, 38 seconds, with the British rider Anna Henderson claiming the silver medal in 41 minutes, 9 seconds, and the American Chloe Dygert a second behind Henderson in third.
The race was contested in horrible conditions, with constant rain making the course very slippery and dangerous on corners, with Dygert among a number of riders who suffered a crash. Enditem
