ISLAMABAD, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Five terrorists were killed and three others injured in separate operations in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, the military said on Monday.

The security forces conducted intelligence-based operations in Mohmand, North Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan districts of KP, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said in a statement.

During the first joint operation in Mohmand district, three terrorists were killed during a clash between security forces and terrorists, the ISPR said, adding that the terrorists' hideout was also busted and a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives was recovered.

However, a police constable lost his life during an intense exchange of fire, said the ISPR statement.

In another operation in Dera Ismail Khan district, security forces effectively engaged terrorists' location, killing a terrorist on the spot, while injuring three others. The killed terrorist was involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area, and was highly wanted by law enforcement agencies, said the ISPR.

In another engagement in North Waziristan district, security forces killed a terrorist during an intelligence-based operation. Enditem
