PARIS, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Swedish veteran Sarah Sjostrom blitzed her rivals to clinch gold in the women's 100m freestyle at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday.
Competing in her fifth Olympic Games, Sjostrom powered home in 52.16 seconds, 0.13 seconds faster than American Torri Huske, who took silver.
Siobhan Bernadette Haughey from Hong Kong, China, the silver medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Games, claimed bronze in 52.33 at La Defensa Arena.
"I have no more words. This is unbelievable," a jubilant Sjostrom told reporters.
"I just felt like I had a really good race. I was in my zone and 100 percent focused on all of the details that I've been working on."
It was Sjostrom's second Olympic gold medal, having also won the 100m butterfly title at Rio 2016. Enditem
