ST. PETERSBURG, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Russia's new car sales increased by 58 percent in the January-July period of 2024, compared to the same period last year, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade said on Monday.

A total of 1,003,103 new cars (age up to 3 years) were sold in Russia in the first seven months of this year, while 636,839 units were sold in the same period in 2023, according to figures released by the ministry.

Sales of new cars of domestic production exceeded 442,000 units, an increase of 34 percent.

The passenger car segment grew by 69 percent over the reporting period, with a total market volume of 848,308 units, wile sales of light commercial vehicles rose by 41 percent, reaching 71,972 units.

In the meantime, there was a 110 percent increase in electric vehicle sales, with a total of 12,353 units sold. Enditem
