Laos records 154 mln USD in trade deficit in July

VIENTIANE, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Laos recorded a trade deficit of 154 million U.S. dollars in July, according to the latest figures from the Lao Trade Portal website.

Total value of trade in July amounted to over 1.2 billion dollars, of which 533 million dollars were for exports and 687 million dollars for imports, said a report issued on Wednesday from the website.

Laos' main export products included mixed gold, electric equipment, salt, rubber, paper, wasted wood, sugar, cassava flour, copper ore and cassava.

The country's main imports included diesel, mechanical equipment, finished chemical products, land vehicles, electrical appliances, steel, plastic products, gasoline, vehicle spare parts and beverages.

China, Vietnam and Thailand are among leading export destinations for Lao products. Meanwhile, major import sources to Laos included China, Thailand and Vietnam, according to the report. Enditem
